Horse racing is known as the “sport of kings”.
Have you ever wondered what happens to those regal horses when they can no longer meet the demands of this great spectator sport?
Few people are aware of the sad fate that awaits thousands of Thoroughbreds each year. The reality is that once a horse is injured and can no longer earn its keep on the track he becomes a liability in a world where winning rules. Reality is a world where horse meat is in demand in many foreign countries and US slaughterhouses are happy to meet that demand. If a horse is injured and needs to be euthanized at least grant them the dignity to be humanly destroyed.
High Hope, Inc. Is a horse rescue focused on horses who sustain injuries while racing. Our goal is to rehabilitate these horses for second careers and place them in suitable homes. While saving all Thoroughbred racehorses from needless suffering or slaughter is not yet in sight we must continue to grow and expand. To do this we need your help. Our income is derived entirely from donations. Horse lovers, race fans, owners, breeders and trainers who believe racehorses deserve better than a painful trip to the slaughterhouse when their track careers are over.
